Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women meets at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Waimea Center, 65-1158 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 2C, Waimea.

Chiropractic service opens in Waikoloa

Island Holistic Healing LLC has opened in Waikoloa Village, offering holistic chiropractic services to the community seven days per week.

Owner Nicholas M. Tancheff, D.C., offers chiropractic care, advanced chiropractic tools, infrared heat therapy, gua sha, ultrasound, inversion, laboratory testing analysis and free consultation. Most insurance plans are accepted.

Cruise raises breast cancer awareness

Dolphin Discoveries is sponsoring a “Day with the Dolphins” cruise to raise awareness to breast cancer in the community on Monday. The cruise is open to those who are currently undergoing treatment, but well enough to participate, as well as cancer survivors, and anyone who would like to make a donation to both raising breast cancer awareness and the American Cancer Society. The profits from the day will be given to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Dolphin Discovers is celebrating three female employees who are all survivors of breast cancer from five to 15 years. It is asking participants to wear pink — men included.

Dolphin Discoveries has been running snorkel and dolphin tours in Kona for close to 20 years. It was recently awarded the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame award for receiving the certificate of excellence for five years in a row.

Senior strength training slated

Bill Linaker offers a free strength training exercise program for seniors at Living Stones Church. Classes begin on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the “Pine Trees” location and will continue each Monday and Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the “Pine Trees” location. Another class begins Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Alii Drive location. Bring water and a pair of light hand-held weights. Water bottles can also be used as weights.

Bertelmann-Tabac on dean’s list

Tiana Bertelmann-Tabac of Waimea has been named to the dean’s list at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., for the spring semester 2015.

Waimea Country School accredited

Waimea Country School recently earned a renewal of full accreditation by the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The seven-year term was granted after a site visit by a three-member team following an in-depth self-study by the school.
